Brief Update on the collection…

While I’m still awaiting my two expensive yet, deliciously awesome purchases to arrive I thought I’d make mention of some recent discoveries.

I decided to start going through some old boxes (which are still yet to be unpacked) and attempted to find my Nintendo DS. Well not only did I find the DS but I also found two titles I needed for the list, and being how I am all were in extremely good condition!

I found A Link to the Past/Four Swords for the GBA, boxed with manual and in good condition. I also found The Minish Cap for the GBA boxed with manual and also in good condition. Somewhat annoyingly I also found my copy of Phantom Hour Glass for the DS (which if you read the previous posts I obtained in a bunlde pack), however my case is in better condition along with the manual, so I’m happy to sit with a double for now.

On a seperate note, with having the DS back in action I decided to start playing the titles I currently have (as I’ve spent a bit of money already and need to take a break). I started replaying A Link to the Past for the GBA, as it was my favourite game on the SNES. Additonally after watching someone complete the entire game in 16minutes (original SNES version with some hacks/button glitches) and amazing me I decided to rush the first two pendant dungeons, but decided to take it easy now and enjoy the game, I’ve got all the time in the world.

That’s it for now, hopefully I have an update when these special arrivals reach me. Oh yeah, and it’s becoming really fucking hard/expensive to get my hands on a GameCube Memory card >.<

Cheers,

JB

I have the greatest game ever made!!

Hello Readers!

In my last post I mentioned having a surprise to share, it did arrive but alas it was a somewhat somber affair. What game am I talking about? Well the greatest game to ever grace gamers around the world! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time!

Yes I managed to get my hands on a complete version of the Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64, while the game isn’t THAT rare it’s still fairly difficult (well it has been for me) too locate a decent version, and it appears that quest may not be over just yet….wait, what? but I got the game, how can there still be more? let me explain…

The package arrived all nicely padded and packed well, I opened it up and carefully removed the bubble wrap, however to my dismay the ebay seller had used sticky tape on either side of the box to keep the openings closed! Shit! The Internet had next to no viable suggestions to remove the tape safely from cardboard other than to take your time and maybe use some WD-40 (ha, yeah right, and possibly color damage the box? NOT A CHANCE!). What did I do? I sat there for a good hour and a half slowly peeling off the sticky tape using my newly acquired camping knife, some awesome finger skills and managed to get it off! Success!

It doesn’t end there however….Upon opening the box the manual looked in fairly good condition but the cartridge sticker was tainted! Tainted with some damned fools name…. “BRAD” which has been etched into the sticker and onto the cartridge! Now the seller did mention a name being upon the cartridge but the description sounded more like some texta for the name and not a fucking ball-point pen which has been used to etch the horrid name of this “BRAD”. Fuck it!!!!!!!!

Oh well, looks like I will be chasing another cartridge, which isn’t a big deal considering the manual and box are in extremely good condition.

I’ve also just made some other purchases, however once received I shall discuss, and you won’t believe how cheap I got them for!

Until then. Oh before I forget, I’m now chasing a display case/cabinet to contain all this awesome Zelda swag, if you have any suggestions, please let me know! e-mail contact [at] effektd.net

Cheers,
JB

It’s Dangerous to go alone! Take this!

So it beings….

Yes folks the imminent killing of all my money for the love of gaming. If you haven’t gathered by now (or don’t know) the post title is actually a quote from the original “The Legend of Zelda” when you are first handed a sword and on your way. Speaking of Zelda I picked up an awesome haul late last week.

An eBayer had a total of 5 (fairly recent) Zelda games up for grabs, and I managed to win the auction for $102.00. While it was fairly risky due to the fact no pictures were available (the seller eventually posted a picture for me about eight hours prior to the end of the auction), everything looked ok so I took the plunge. I mean come on, some old GameCube games and two fairly recent Nintendo DS Zelda titles? For a $100.00? Easily justifiable (well to myself anyway haha).

For a grand total of $102.00AUD I picked up the following;

- Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess for Wii, very good condition
- Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass for NDS, excellent condition
- Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks for NDS, as new condition
- Legend of Zelda Wind Waker for Gamecube
- Legend of Zelda Collector’s Edition for Gamecube (The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask)

The collectors edition was a big score, the case unfortunately isn’t in the best condition however. While I already owned Phantom Hour glass, and no doubt have Wind Waker and Twilight Princess hidden somewhere, I can safely say this was a decent haul at a good price!

When I get time I’ll be posting a video for this purchase to show off the quality, and hopefully I have a surprise arrive tomorrow afternoon to share with everyone.
Cheers,
JB

An ode to…

Well the blog is back…

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m JB. A tech junkie and a gamer at heart. effektd.net has been my domain since 2007 and has gone from varying personal blog iterations, to a gaming forum used by a mere 20 close friends, too a ‘full fledged attempt‘ (key word being attempt) at a gaming community.

After all of it had minor to little sucess and the site has been on hiatus for quite some time (about 1yr+ due to the forums coping a massive amount of spam posts) I decided to fire up wordpress once again and actually use the hosting I pay good money for. Will it last??

So what now? Another attempt at a gaming community? A bland boring personal blog? (That’s what facebook and twitter status updates are for!). Well no, not this time.

The blog will be primarily to cover my “quest” (*insert massive fail nerd remarks here*) to establish some kind of gaming collection. I hope to coincide the blog with Youtube videos (need too purchase a High Quality webcam or video camera first).

The first collecting quest? Zelda. I’ll leave it at that for now.

Cheers,

JB

note: I’m still deciding on a theme, and this may or may not stay, therefore stock images will be abounds until I make up my mind.
